CHANDIGARH, 2026 – In an era where concrete and asphalt continue to swallow natural landscapes, the Heavendoo Foundation has officially launched its flagship environmental restoration initiative, “Project 480”. Spearheaded by Project Manager Rishabh Raj, this visionary five-year urban forestry initiative aims to fundamentally disrupt the traditional nonprofit model of environmental conservation by tackling what experts call the “plant and forget” epidemic. Countless saplings planted during standard corporate environmental drives die within their first year due to a complete lack of aftercare. Heavendoo Foundation is changing this narrative by prioritizing long-term survival over sheer numbers.

At the core of Project 480 is a precise and deeply impactful commitment: planting exactly 480 native saplings and providing them with a rigorous, uninterrupted five-year maintenance program. The first few years of a tree’s life are its most vulnerable. By guaranteeing comprehensive field care—including structured watering schedules adapted to seasonal changes, pruning, and ongoing pest and disease monitoring—Heavendoo ensures that these young trees successfully mature into a self-sustaining micro-forest that will serve communities for generations.

The project comes as an urgent response to accelerating urban crises: the Urban Heat Island effect, which leaves cities significantly hotter than surrounding rural zones, and rapidly declining air quality driven by increased emissions and dust. The environmental dividends of Project 480 are precisely calculated. By the end of the five-year maintenance phase, these 480 native trees are projected to absorb approximately 10,560 kilograms of CO2 annually. Furthermore, the flourishing micro-forest will produce enough clean oxygen to support over 2,100 people every year.

The physical transformation of the local landscape will be equally profound. The maturing canopy is set to generate nearly 9,600 square meters of shade, effectively lowering local urban heat island temperatures by up to 3-5degree celsius. Beneath the surface, the thriving root systems will act as a natural sponge, capturing and filtering up to 192,000 liters of rainfall annually. This crucial water conservation effort will significantly reduce urban runoff while actively replenishing depleted underground aquifers.

What sets Heavendoo Foundation apart is its emphasis on transparency and modern technological infrastructure. Every single sapling planted in Project 480 is geo-tagged and mapped, allowing donors to track the exact location and survival rate of the trees. Additionally, the team utilizes periodic drone canopy surveys to monitor overall growth and health from above. This tech-driven accountability extends directly to their financial model, notably demonstrated through a visionary 1 Rupee donation breakdown where 35 percent of all funds are strictly allocated to five-year maintenance and field care, followed by 20 percent for saplings, and 10 percent dedicated to tech and blockchain infrastructure.

HFN Wordit

[Micro-Forestry] noun. The practice of planting dense, native ecosystems in urban environments, heavily managed through technology to achieve a near-perfect survival rate.

The Project 480 Ethos: Heavendoo Foundation’s core philosophy replaces the quantity-driven “Plant and Forget” epidemic with quality-driven “Nurture and Sustain” commitments. By anchoring ecological restoration to GPS geo-tagging and drone tracking, they turn environmental donations into transparent, living assets for the planet.
